*Plate acquired at an estate auction
in Southwestern Iowa, I could
not find whom Holstein played
in the 1st Round but I suspect
it was either Menlo, Coin
or Oakland High Schools.
Holstein played in the final
against Goldfield and lost
with a crowd of 15,000
people in attendance.
The plate was made in 9/1931,
so it dates 24 years prior to
this historic basketball event
that was held in Des Moines
for the 1st time in 1955.
Games prior to 1955 were
held at Drake University.
Bishops Cafe / Cafeteria started
in Waterloo IA and grew to 35
restaurants before closing the
last location in 2012.
